Roche Harbor Lowlands
A scenic and accessible network of woodland trails with wetlands and ponds
The Roche Harbor Lowland Trails offer over ten miles of easy, scenic trails winding through mature forests, wetlands, and quiet ponds. These trails pass through a mix of active and peaceful spaces, including an airport, disc golf course, and farm, as well as more secluded areas for nature immersion.
Wildlife is abundant, with frequent sightings of foxes, bald eagles, songbirds, and wetland species. In spring and summer, watch for violet-green swallows swooping over Pollywog Pond. Near the Wetlands Loop, a special trail delights visitors with hidden fairy figures tucked into trees—perfect for curious eyes and imaginations.
Maintained by volunteers, this trail network has been designated a National Recreational Trail by the Department of the Interior, recognizing it among the country’s highest-caliber trails. Foraging enthusiasts can spot seasonal berries, including blackberries, thimbleberries, and salmonberries along the trails.
