Roche Harbor Highlands

A rewarding hike through forested highlands, with a tranquil lake loop and connections to nearby ridge-top views

This expansive trail network offers peaceful forest walks, a tranquil loop around Briggs Lake, and connections to nearby ridge-top views. Winding through a mix of public and private lands, the trails invite you to spend an hour—or an entire day—exploring cedars, maples, and meadows.

Please note: Briggs Lake is a reservoir that supplies drinking water to the area. To protect water quality, no swimming or dogs are allowed in the lake.

Trailhead parking is available at the intersection of West Valley Road and Roche Harbor Road.

Designated as National Recreation Trails by the U.S. Department of the Interior, the Roche Harbor Trails are a proud addition to the National Trails System and a beloved part of the island’s outdoor experience.
